The Mughal court introduced the art of miniature
painting to India. The mughal emperors brought
first artists over to India from Persia. Miniature
painting grew around the mughal court of Delhi
and Agra. Many of today's artists are the descendents
of painters from Akbar and Jahangir's days.
The raw material used in miniature painting
includes special papers, colours, marble plates,
brushes etc. it includes Painted Ragini by a
national award winner and miniaturist of Delhi.
Miniature painitings took their inspiration
from the magnificient court life of the times;
hunting scenes were exquisitely executed during
the reign of Jahangir, with intense feeling,
brilliant of colours and enchanting realism.
Everyone can enjoy their virtuosity and naturalism;
but the more one learns about Mughal historical
and culture background the more nourishing the
paintings.
